Founded in 2006, HubSpot has helped over 8,500 companies improve and manage their digital marketing efforts. One of the benefits of using HubSpot is the ability to coordinate your marketing efforts by creating supplementary accounts for employees or other members of your team. There are seven user roles to choose from, each providing varying levels of access to the applications and tools on the site. Here is a brief description of each user profile, which will help you select the right one for each team member.
The person in this user role will have unfettered access to all the settings and applications on the site. This account type is most suitable for people who will be creating and managing various aspects of the products including other user profiles, analytics, and linking social media accounts.
MarketerThis role is for the individual managing the marketing aspects of the company or project. Like the administrator account, the marketer profile grants access to all the HubSpot applications. However, the person will only be able to make limited changes to the Analytics and Social Media settings. Only HubSpot Professional and Enterprise customers can assign this account type.
Sales RepLimited to HubSpot Professional and Enterprise accounts, the Sales Rep profile provides users with access to the Prospect application. While individuals cannot add, remove, or otherwise make changes in the Contacts tool, they can view contact profiles linked to their accounts. This account type is great for assigning individual salespeople to specific companies.
Content CreatorIf you have people on your team who are responsible for creating and promoting content like articles and infographics, then this is the user role you should assign them to. People in this account type can access the Social Media, File Manager, Blog, and CTAs applications. To use this profile type, you must be a HubSpot Professional or Enterprise customer.
Business AnalystTeam members responsible for analyzing your marketing data should be placed in this user role. This account type grants access to the Reports section of the site and all of the reporting tools found there. This is another account type that is only available for clients with Professional or Enterprise accounts.
Blog AuthorExternal content creators, such as freelancers and guest authors, can be assigned this profile, which provides them access to the Blog app. Users with this account type will only be able to create and edit content to the blog. They will not be able to publish it. This will allow you or the person who manages outside talent to view and approve the content prior to it going live. To access this feature, you must have a HubSpot Professional or Enterprise account.
This account is one step above Blog Author. This user account type lets people create, edit, and publish content to the company's blog, but does not allow access to any other app. To assign trusted internal and external content creators to this role, you have to be a HubSpot Professional and Enterprise customer.
How to Create Alternative Accounts in Hubspot:
Creating these different user accounts is very easy. As you may have noticed, the majority of these accounts are only available to HubSpot Professional and Enterprise customers. If you don't have this account type, then now is a good time to consider upgrading to obtain these and other benefits.Here are the steps involved in creating login credentials for your team members:
- Log into your account and go to the Settings page
- Click on Manage Users
- Select Add User (located on the right side of the screen)
- Enter the person's name, email address, and select a User Role
- Make sure the Send Invitation box is checked; this will send a login link to the person
- Although the person will receive a notification email, it's a good idea to contact the individual to make sure he or she logs in and creates a secure password for the account
