As Google introduced a number of changes to its G Suite Business, it also announced improvements to Chrome device management. The technology provider added a wide array of features and renamed G Suite Business. The suite is now known as G Suite. Meanwhile, Google Cloud is the new name for the company's broad range of cloud-based services, including APIs, G Suite, Google Cloud Platform and more.

Google has also made it easier for G Suite customers to implement Chrome device management. The technology provider is offering a free trial option of up to 60 days. The offer is applicable to users managing up to 10 devices.

Chrome device management

As an administrator, you have the capacity to configure over 200 settings, policies and features. The devices and licensing are available in our Apps Admin Shop. The management processes provide a practical way to enhance security for your organization's sensitive data.

In addition, the settings make it easy to boost levels of employee productivity while reducing the amount of time spent on device management. You can also link multiple Chrome devices to specific VPNs, Ethernet and WiFi networks.

Additional management actions under Network settings include:

  • Manage network certificates

  • Handle enterprise networking for multiple devices

  • Add third-party VPNs

  • Monitor device traffic

  • Control network and network interfaces

  • Add network configuration for WiFi and Ethernet

With Chrome device management, it becomes easier to install applications, extensions and more. The installation process works automatically based on current settings. You configure the settings for specific devices and users. Alternatively, it is also possible to apply settings that include all staff members in your company.

Public session devices are aimed at allowing access to a given network without the need for authentication. These are applicable to shared computers, loaner devices and kiosks.

Assigning administrator roles for Chrome Device Management

Device management admin roles can be delegated to multiple individuals depending on specific requirements. The Google Admin console allows you to assign administrator status without enabling access to all settings. New admins gain access to relevant settings while the rest are blocked. This is aimed at improving controls.

When it comes to passwords, Google Chrome can save passwords and automatically deliver them when users log in to a site. The function works when the Password Manager is enabled. On the other hand, new passwords cannot be saved when the manager is disabled. However, passwords saved before the feature is disabled enable users to automatically log in.

The Chromebook Management Console saves you time by updating and configuring your organization's device fleet in simultaneously. This is opposed to spending hours configuring the devices individually. The trial offer by Google creates a great opportunity to unlock the power of multi-device management.
